Fernando Grisales, CFA
Senior Portfolio Manager–EMD
Fernando Grisales, CFA, is Senior Portfolio Manager – EMD Americas for the Hartford Schroders Emerging Markets Multi-Sector Bond Fund. He joined Schroders in 2012 as a Senior Portfolio Manager on the Emerging Market Debt Relative team. Prior to joining Schroders, Fernando worked as a Senior Portfolio Manager – Sovereign at ICE Canyon, an alternative investment firm specializing in emerging market debt (2010 to 2012). From 2001 to 2010, he worked at AllianceBernstein in a variety of roles, including Vice President and Portfolio Manager (2007 to 2010). He also worked as an Emerging Market Trader responsible for all sovereign, corporate, and local markets trading. Fernando earned a BS in Finance, International Business and Economics from New York University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Matthew Strauss
CFA, SVP, Portfolio Manager & Lead – Global Equities
Matthew Strauss, Senior Vice-President and Portfolio Manager, has more than 20 years of global investment experience. Mr. Strauss joined CI in 2011 to help manage currency overlays and oversee the emerging market equity mandates. He is currently also the lead manager on CI Select Global Equity Select Fund and co-manager on the CI Global Income & Growth Fund, as well as being a member of the Asset Allocation Committee. As the lead portfolio manager for the global and emerging market equity mandates, he also provides macroeconomic, country and sector strategies for these mandates. He has extensive international experience, having worked as Chief Strategist at the largest retail bank in Africa and as Senior Fixed Income and Currency Strategist at RBC Capital Markets. Mr. Strauss holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, a Bachelor of Commerce degree and an MA in Economics from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa.
Amr Abdel Khalek
Strategist, Emerging Markets
Amr Abdel Khalek joined MRB in 2011 and specializes in emerging markets. Along with Mehran Nakhjavani, he is responsible for driving MRB’s house view on non-Asian emerging market economies and financial assets. He regularly contributes to the firm’s emerging markets and global products, and is currently responsible for MRB’s Latin America and South Africa reports. Mr. Abdel Khalek has also developed a wide range of proprietary emerging markets economic/financial models and indicators. Prior to joining MRB, he worked as an Economist at HC Securities and Investments in Egypt, where he was responsible for covering MENA economies and regularly writing and contributing to the firm’s research products. Mr. Abdel Khalek has M.A. and a B.A. in Economics from Carleton University.
